We strongly suggest students already living in Whitehorse, applying to the MAD program do the live audition this year, as it is a better chance to being accepted
*We certainly take into account students who are studying away and from rural schools, as this may be their only way to do the audition.

*The required courses are part of the MAD drama program and we will not accept students if they already have the required courses, as we would either have to repeat that course, or most of the work we do here would not be for credit.
*Students who would normally be part of sports tournaments, such as the Dawson Volleyball trip would not be able to go, as it directly conflicts with our MAD Haunted House, and the production is for grades in both Physical Education and Drama. Please be aware that our dates are determined by a number of other school factors, but our work here is for credit and cannot be replaced by another assignment or opportunity.
*Students who are not able to be part of the productions due to trips, or sports should not apply

Step 2: Interview Questions
Step 3: Audition Rubric

STEP 1. Open House in person, for all programs-November 29, 2023 @411 Wood Street Virtual Open House for all programs Monday, December 4, 2023@2PM. STEP 2. The application package (application form and reference letters) are due on January 29, 2024.
STEP 2. Book an In-Person OR a Zoom interview with the MAD teachers for either February 5th or 6th
STEP 3. Live Auditions will be:
2. Write a one-minute monologue and memorize it (lots of examples online, but basically it is a scene involving just one character) 3. Come up with a costume for the character (glasses are not a costume! do not come to the audition in your costume; we will give you time to change) 4. Deliver your monologue in front of us and the other applicants (hint: do what you want but know that Dave and Carolyn love to see humour over drama) 5. Video Auditions: for those who are forced to send in a video because they are away during this time, or out in our rural schools, we do insist that you hit the time of one minute, since you have the opportunity to re-shoot, which in-person people do not. The group audition expectations and rubric are in a document to the left. * A monologue is can be expressing one's thoughts aloud, but there are some types where they are addressing another character, who does not respond, or directly to the audience. AFTER THE APPLICATION PROCESS
All programs will contact you as to whether or not you've been accepted by February 21th. If you have been accepted, you have until February 26rd to accept the offer. If you have not been accepted, you will be placed on a waitlist and contacted as soon as a spot opens up. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us: [email protected] [email protected] |
